America Movil reveals drop in Capex to $8.6 bn in 2022

America Movil in its earnings report said capital expenditures (Capex) reached 159.8 billion pesos $8.6 billion in 2022 vs 170.336 billion pesos in 2021.
America Movil subscriber base 2022Telmex Mexico said its 5G services reached 100 cities by the end of December. Telmex will expand the 5G rollout to enhance customer experience.

Claro covers 43 percent of the 5G clients in the Brazilian market. Claro has also rolled out fiber-to-the-home to improve quality and speed of broadband service which has been recognized by Ookla for its reliability and stability.

America Movil has added 1.5 million postpaid clients and 1.8 million prepaid customers in the fourth quarter. Brazil, Austria and Colombia were the main contributors with postpaid gains of 599,000, 322,000 and 160,000, respectively. Mexico was the main contributor of prepaid additions with 975,000 followed by Colombia and Central America with 546,000 and 247,000, respectively.

America Movil’s fourth quarter revenue fell 2.4 percent to 216 billion pesos with service revenue declining 1.4 percent, partly driven by the appreciation of the Mexican peso versus other Latin American currencies.

America Movil has reported 90 percent drop in its fourth-quarter net profit to $703 million (13.71 billion pesos), mainly due to the deconsolidation of Claro Chile and currency headwinds.
