Airtel launches 4G trials in Chennai, teams with Samsung

Bharti Airtel today launched 4G trials for its existing customers in Chennai.
The 4G trial will help the service provider collect feedback about the service and assimilate these insights to build a world-class 4G network infrastructure for the city, Airtel said.

The service is now available to existing 3G customers and offered at the price of the 3G services.

Airtel 4G promises superfast Internet speed allowing customers to enjoy capabilities like high definition video streaming with zero buffering, downloading 10 movies in less than 30 minutes, uploading entire photo albums in less than five minutes, connecting multiple devices without compromising on the experience, among others, Airtel claims.

Announcing the beta launch, George Mathen, CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel (India) said, “As more and more Indians show a preference for consuming data and content over their mobile devices, we at Airtel are excited to bring the power of 4G for our customers in Chennai.”

As part of this initiative, Airtel  also announced partnership with mobile devices leader Samsung. Under this partnership, both companies agreed to promote each others’ 4G offerings at their respective outlets.

As part of this arrangement, Samsung India’s retail stores will now facilitate easy Airtel 4G SIM swap for customers buying 4G smartphones.

In the weeks to come, Samsung will also offer bundled Airtel 4G SIMs along with Samsung 4G handsets available in the Indian market.

Airtel 4G double data offers are now available for Samsung’s Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A5 mobile devices.

Samsung will also be looking at launching its all new Core Prime 4G mobile smartphone in Airtel 4G markets.

Airtel also offers an affordable WiFi hotspot device that allows compatible mobile devices latch onto the 4G network and experience superfast 4G speeds.

With this announcement, Chennai becomes the 6th Indian city to enjoy Airtel 4G. Recently the company launched 4G service in Kolkata. The service is already available in Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh and Amritsar.
