Airtel enhances investment in network and fiber in Odisha

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced that it will add 4,400 new cell sites in Odisha during fiscal 2018-19.
Airtel network in OdishaIndia’s largest telecom operator will also add 1,500 kms of optic fiber in Odisha as part of its Capex strategy.

Airtel will be adding 1 new site every two hours to its network in Odisha as part of the Project Leap investment program. The strategy of Airtel is to enhance customer experience across India.

Airtel has already added 3,660 new sites and more than 500 kms of optic fiber during fiscal 2017-18 in Odisha, extending its mobile broadband footprint to 53,500 towns and villages.

“With our enhanced speeds, reach and coverage, we also aim to contribute towards the Government’s vision of Digital India,” Siddharth Motiwale, chief operating officer – Odisha, Bharti Airtel, said.

Airtel’s target is to have more than 15,600 cell sites by the end of the current financial year.

The number of Airtel’s mobile sites in Odisha would go up by 40 percent to 15,600. The addition of fresh optic fiber would extend its fiber backbone to 9,500 kms, supporting the growth of high speed data services in the region.

Airtel is witnessing a surge in its VoLTE traffic in Odisha on the back of the availability of a seamless 4G network with fall-back capability.
