WE Solutions and Movandi have signed an MoU to accelerate advanced wireless connectivity deployment across Saudi Arabia, combining Movandi’s mmWave, RF semiconductor, beamforming, smart repeater and software-defined networking technologies with WE Solutions’ local engineering, integration, cybersecurity and project-delivery capabilities. The partnership will support customer demonstrations, proof-of-concept deployments, network integration, testing, installation and commissioning, with opportunities spanning telecommunications, government, giga-projects, transport, enterprise, industrial and critical infrastructure. The companies also plan to develop Saudi-based engineering and deployment capabilities, helping move technologies from evaluation to operational networks. Movandi’s portfolio covers 5G, fixed wireless broadband and non-terrestrial satellite communications, positioning the collaboration to support Saudi Arabia’s next-generation digital infrastructure ambitions.
5G Broadcast Gets Precision Positioning Boost from Castanet-Rypplzz Partnership
Rypplzz and Castanet Corporation are partnering to embed precision spatial intelligence into Castanet’s hybrid ATSC 3.0 and 5G Broadcast Internet network, creating a terrestrial positioning and timing platform designed for physical AI. The system will deliver three-axis X, Y and Z positioning and nanosecond-level timing by combining Rypplzz’s spatial intelligence with Castanet’s broadcast infrastructure and UHF spectrum. Initial pilot deployments are planned in Las Vegas and Silicon Valley under the 3GPP Release 18 5G Broadcast standard. The platform will use network measurements, positioning reference signals, timing data and sensor inputs to provide resilient positioning where GNSS can be degraded, supporting autonomous systems, public safety, transportation, critical infrastructure, defense and network offload applications.
India Tightens Mobile Security Rules with Tough IMEI Tampering Penalties
India’s Department of Telecommunications has warned against tampering with mobile IMEI numbers and misuse of telecommunications identifiers, highlighting penalties under the Telecommunications Act, 2023. Violations involving identifier tampering or fraudulent SIM acquisition can attract imprisonment of up to three years and fines of up to Rs 50 lakh. The advisory comes as the government seeks to strengthen safeguards against handset-related fraud, identity misuse and unauthorized network activity. The DoT has urged consumers to verify handset details through the Sanchar Saathi platform and avoid SIM cards obtained through fraudulent or impersonation-based processes. The warning reinforces the government’s broader focus on secure digital identities, device verification and responsible use of India’s rapidly expanding mobile connectivity ecosystem.
