Verizon Data Services India appoints Santosh Bijur as MD

Telecom Lead India: Verizon has appointed Santosh Bijur
as the managing director of Verizon Data Services India, the IT development
center of Verizon in India.


Santosh succeeds Rahul Saxena.


Santosh will head a 6,000-member team in Chennai and
Hyderabad.


He will be responsible for Verizon’s India IT strategy
& operations to create value for the corporation.


Prior to his new appointment, Santosh served as head of
IT delivery for call center self service systems.


Santosh has 18 years of experience in the
telecommunications industry, having worked in the U.S. for Sprint, MCI and
GTE. 


He holds a U.S. patent in the area of call center
management technology.


Rahul will move back to the U.S. taking the new role of
vice president – Strategy, Development & Planning at Verizon’s headquarters.


Verizon Data Services India (VDS India), an IT center
that operates out of Chennai and Hyderabad, is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Verizon Communications.


Set up in June 2001, VDS India works on IT applications
that enable Operations Support Systems (OSS), Business Support Systems (BSS),
Self-Service Solutions, Mobile/Field Workforce solutions, ERP (Enterprise
Resource Planning), Customer Care, New Products and Services and Remote
Infrastructure Management.
