The company has appointed Victor Dodig as President and CEO effective July 1, 2026, marking the start of a new chapter for TELUS as it continues investing in broadband, AI infrastructure and global growth.

TELUS confirmed that Darren Entwistle will be named CEO Emeritus in recognition of his contributions. He will remain an advisor to the company until April 30, 2027 to support a smooth leadership transition.

During his 26-year tenure, Entwistle led TELUS through a significant transformation from a regional Canadian telecom provider into a global communications technology company operating in more than 45 countries and generating over $20 billion in annual revenue.

According to TELUS Board Chair John Manley, Entwistle’s leadership helped build world-leading broadband and AI infrastructure, expand the company’s business portfolio and strengthen TELUS’ brand and culture. Under his leadership, the company emphasized combining commercial success with social impact, positioning TELUS as a global advocate of social capitalism.

Victor Dodig

Victor Dodig, a TELUS board member since 2022, has been named CEO Designate and will join the leadership team full time on May 1, 2026 ahead of taking over as President and CEO on July 1.

Victor Dodig brings more than three decades of leadership experience, most recently serving as President and CEO of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) from 2014 to 2025. During his tenure, he led a transformation focused on digital innovation, customer experience and growth, delivering strong shareholder returns.

The TELUS board said Dodig’s experience leading large regulated organizations and driving customer-centric transformation makes him well suited to guide TELUS through its next growth phase.

Victor Dodig said he is honored to lead TELUS and build on the company’s strong foundation in network infrastructure, growth businesses and community partnerships. He emphasized his commitment to continuing TELUS’ focus on customers, innovation and long-term value creation.

Succession Plan and Future Strategy

The leadership transition follows a comprehensive CEO succession planning process supported by global executive search firms. The board evaluated both internal and external candidates before selecting Dodig, citing his leadership skills and familiarity with TELUS from his time on the board.

The move signals continuity in TELUS’ long-term strategy, particularly in expanding digital services, AI, broadband and global operations. With Entwistle transitioning to an advisory role and Dodig preparing to take the helm, TELUS aims to ensure stability while pursuing its next phase of growth and innovation.
