Apple Loses Antitrust Case in Germany
Apple has lost its case in Germany’s top court, which upheld the decision to classify the company as a significant market power. This label allows regulators to examine Apple’s business practices more closely.
The ruling places Apple alongside other tech companies like Alphabet and Meta under increased scrutiny in Germany. This is part of a global push to regulate big tech, with the European Commission’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) setting the standard.
Apple disagreed with the decision, stating that it harms its privacy-focused business model. However, experts say the DMA remains the main regulation for these companies, with more scrutiny expected, especially around Apple’s App Store and user data tracking.
