Telcordia, a provider of mobile, broadband
and enterprise communications software and services, announced that it has been
selected to manage mobile number portability (MNP) in Argentina.
The award was announced by the Ministerio
de Planificacion Federal, Secretaria de Communicationes (SeCom) on behalf of
the Comite de Portabilidad Numerica, a consortium of all mobile operators in
Argentina.
Besides implementing carrier-grade MNP
software solution to Argentina’s mobile service providers, Telcordia will
provide training and managed services over the five year term. Telcordia manages number portability for more than one billion users worldwide.
Along with its partner Telmark, Telcordia
has established the joint venture company Administradora de la Portabilidad
Argentina S.A. as part of the agreement.

American and worldwide number portability experience to Argentina as we work
closely with the country’s service providers to install and manage a number
portability system that will give consumers more choice and creates a more

With Argentina, Telcordia will now support
more than 175 million mobile and fixed line subscribers across Latin America,
including Chile and Mexico.
The Telcordia number portability solution
has been selected for deployments in countries around the world, including:
United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Chile, India, Thailand, Malaysia,
Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Greece, UAE, South Africa,
and Nigeria.
Recently,
Telcordia announced that the company has been selected by the Number
Portability Committee on behalf of all Chile’s service providers who are
subject of Number Portability Implementation to manage the country’s number
portability system.
With more than 15 worldwide number-portability
implementations, Telcordia will provide managed services, training and
carrier-grade software solutions for Chile’s regulators, and fixed and mobile
service providers to enable a number portability rollout scheduled for later
this year.
