T-Mobile offers free Alcatel ONETOUCH tablet

American wireless carrier T-Mobile today said it would offer Alcatel ONETOUCH Pop 7, a 7” Android tablet, free of cost when users add a new tablet plan for $10 per month.

The strategy of T-Mobile is to attract users on Black Friday. The free tablet offer will start on November 21, Friday, at participating T-Mobile stores.

T-Mobile added 2.3 million new customers in the third quarter of 2014.

T-Mobile tablet customers

In addition to T-Mobile’s tablet offer, customers of MetroPCS can purchase two 4G LTE smartphones for the price of one. The offer of MetroPCS, a brand owned by T-Mobile, will start from Wednesday, November 19 through Monday, December 1.

Meanwhile, AT&T, the second-largest U.S. wireless carrier, is slashing its shared 15GB data plan to $100 a month.

AT&T will offer new and existing customers 15GB of data for $100. The current price for 15 gigabytes is $130, although that currently covers 30 gigabytes thanks to a separate promotion announced in September. Sprint customers, by comparison, can get 20GB for $100, while T-Mobile US had a $100 offer for 10GB plan until last month.
