American telecom service provider T-Mobile US today announced its $40 a month package offering unlimited talk, text and up to 500MB 4G LTE data and tethering.
Bellevue, Wash.-based T-Mobile US said the entry-level plan is aimed at both wireless customers and small businesses in the U.S.
On 8 April, U.S. Cellular launched new No Contract plans for customers with unlimited data, voice and messaging starting at $40 per month.

In another plan, U.S. Cellular also offers a $50 per month wireless package for unlimited voice, messaging and 500MB data. Data will be slowed after the 500MB are used but remains unlimited.
T-Mobile US, which serves approximately 46.7 million wireless subscribers, said the $40 flat-rate package will be live from 12 April. The new scheme is suitable for subscribers who do not have international texting and roaming.
John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile, indicated that the company has done well in terms of customer acquisitions and the forthcoming quarterly result will prove that.
On 5 April, Sprint announced $650 in savings to migrate from your existing mobile operator. New customers who bring their number to Sprint can receive up to $300 in credit for their current phone and a Visa Prepaid Card worth up to $350 to cover switching fees.

T-Mobile said the entry-level plan of AT&T is costly as compared with the $40 wireless package from T-Mobile.
The cost of AT&T plan increases by $20 if you consume more data. This means there will be bill shocks to AT&T mobile users.
T-Mobile US Simple Starter offers 100MB more data than AT&T’s 300MB. In the case of T-Mobile, you will not pay data overages, the company said.
With data capped at 500MB, you’ll never pay more until you choose to pay more – by purchasing additional data sessions whenever you like, T-Mobile US said.
T-Mobile US said its plans are simple and predictable to American consumers.
Mike Sievert, chief marketing officer for T-Mobile, said: “We are the only major U.S. carrier to offer a single line of 4G LTE data at just $40 per month.”
Simple Starter customers also qualify for T-Mobile Contract Freedom offer which pays the entire contract Early Termination Fees of customers who switch to T-Mobile and trade-in their phones.
The plan also qualifies for the company’s JUMP! upgrade program, so customers can choose to get handset protection and they can upgrade when they want.
T-Mobile US has approximately 70,000 points of distribution, including approximately 8,000 T-Mobile and MetroPCS branded locations and 62,000 third-party locations.
