KDDI reports 2% increase in June quarter revenue

KDDI said operating revenue rose 1.9 percent to ¥1,221,716 million during the three-month period ended June 30, 2018.

The marginal growth is due to an increase in revenue from handset sales, expansion of the Life Design Business, including energy business, KDDI said.

Operating income of KDDI rose 2.6 percent to ¥288,862 million, mainly due to an increase in sales. Profit of KDDI rose 3 percent to ¥178,666 million due to the increase in operating income.

KDDI’s Personal Services business’ operating revenue rose by 1.9 percent to ¥936,746 million, mainly due to increases in revenues from handset sales and the energy business, despite a decline in mobile communications revenues. Operating income fell 1.1 percent to ¥219,517 million, mainly due to the decline in mobile communications revenues.

KDDI’s Life Design segment’s operating revenue rose by 3.8 percent to ¥127,135 million due to increases in revenues from Wowma and au WALLET Market. Operating income grew by 3.9 percent to ¥27,432 million.

KDDI’s business services’ operating revenue grew 8.2 percent to ¥189,186 million, mainly due to increases in solution sales and handset sales revenues. Operating income rose by 12.2 percent to ¥26,501 million.

KDDI’s international business’ operating revenue fell 1.5 percent to ¥65,203 million. This reflected the impact of decreased revenue resulting from restructured unprofitable businesses. KDDI said revenue in the Myanmar and TELEHOUSE data center businesses increased. Operating income increased by 96.7 percent to ¥14,222 million.
