Du Capex touches AED724 mn with 22.8% capital intensity

Du (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company EITC) has reported 10.5 percent increase in revenue to AED3.17 billion for the quarter-ended 30th September 2022.
Du data plansEBITDA increased by 18.5 percent to AED1,303 million. The increase in service revenues lifted the gross margin to 65.2 percent compared to 62.2 percent in Q3 2021. As a result, the EBITDA margin expanded by 277bp to 41.0 percent.

Du said mobile service revenues increased 10.7 percent to AED1,443 million, while equipment sales generated revenues of AED176 million.

Fixed services revenues rose 22.2 percent to AED892 million, buoyed by the strong performance of the consumer segment. Service revenues increased 14.8 percent to AED2,335 million.

“We generated service revenues above AED2 billion for a fifth consecutive quarter. Our profitability continued to improve on a sequential and year-on-year basis. We have invested and will continue to invest in our infrastructure to give our customers a simple and the best available experience in the UAE,” Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of EITC, said.

Capital expenditures (Capex) amounted to AED724 million with a capital intensity of 22.8 percent and reflects a seasonality effect. The Capex profile continues to normalise following two consecutive years of high capital intensity.

Du said its mobile customer base grew 14.7 percent to 7.4 million subscribers, as the postpaid customer segment achieved growth for the fifth consecutive quarter. Du added 32,000 postpaid subscribers during the quarter, bringing the total number of postpaid subscribers to 1.4 million.

Du said the consumer broadband customer base increased 53.8 percent or 37,000 to 510,000 during the quarter.
