Chunghwa Telecom Picks Digital Rapids Encoders and Automation for Live Streaming of 2012 Summer Olympics

Telecom
Lead Asia
: Chunghwa Telecom has chosen Digital Rapids
Encoders and Automation for live streaming of 2012 summer Olympic Games for
viewers in Taiwan. Chunghwa Telecom serves nearly 12 million fixedline,
mobile and broadband customers.

StreamZ live encoders are used to transform live and high
definition source feeds of the London Olympic to numerous output streams. This
would be then viewed on CHT’s HiNet hichannel Web platform. Additional
such encoders provide redundancy for creating fault tolerance. On the
other hand, centralized management, monitoring and automation of the encoders
is provided by the enterprise- class Broadcast Manager Software.

“We are excited that StreamZ Live and Broadcast
Manager have been chosen by Chunghwa Telecom to deliver live streaming coverage
of the Olympics to their HiNet hichannel audience,” said Clive Vickery,
managing director, EMEA and Asia at Digital Rapids. “For top-tier service
providers such as CHT, bringing events of this scale and importance to their
viewers requires robust, reliable solutions with exceptional visual
quality,” Vickery added.

The StreamZ Live family of live encoders provides
superior output quality, outstanding reliability and flexible, multi-screen
output format support – including adaptive streaming – for audience-expanding
live streaming applications from Internet TV and mobile video to IPTV,
over-the-top (OTT) services and broadcast television. Whether viewed on a PC,
tablet, mobile phone, IPTV set-top box or ‘smart’ TV, IP-based streaming video
has redefined live broadcasting and lets you reach wider audiences on more
viewing platforms than ever before.
