Chunghwa Telecom deploys Metaswitch Service Broker

Metaswitch Networks, a provider of carrier systems and
communications software solutions, announced that Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s
market leader in mobile, Internet and fixed line services, is deploying the
Metaswitch Service Broker.

With Metaswitch,
Chunghwa will be able to use a single platform to deliver services across both
its legacy and IMS networks. These services will be delivered to subscribers on
any network at the same time, without compromising IMS capabilities.

The evolution of an Intelligent Network service
architecture is an important process that we have planned for years,” said Chen,
IN services project manager at Chunghwa Telecom Labs.

Metaswitch was selected after evaluation of a number of
solution vendors for both their capabilities and cost. Since the award, we have
worked closely with the Metaswitch team in proving out the solution and they
have been very helpful in all phases of the project,” Chen added.

Tier 1 service providers like Chunghwa face tremendous
challenges in service convergence,” said Graeme MacArthur, executive vice
president at Metaswitch. Operators have found that as their network evolves
they require a more flexible, cost effective alternative to traditional ‘silo’
application connectivity models. We are pleased to help Chunghwa with this
transformation.”
