Canadian telecoms Wind Mobile announces new tariff plans to shake up industry

Canadian telecoms Wind Mobile today announced new tariff plans to shake up the industry. Wind also announced its 700,000 active subscriber mark.

The telecoms is planning to offer new unlimited options and more value to its customers. New tariff plans will be effective from 7 April 2014.

Wind Mobile announced its $25 per month plan featuring unlimited Canada-wide Talk and Text. This mobile plan is perfect for those who don’t use much data but want to stay connected Canada-wide, said Wind Mobile.

The company claims that the $35 per month plan is the perfect smartphone starter plan, featuring unlimited data, talk and text plus a $150 handset subsidy, allowing customers access to the latest entry-level smartphones from $0.

Wind Mobile also announced its $60 per month plan. The monthly plan will include unlimited data, talk, text, in Canada and across the U.S., Voicemail+, World Saver plus a $500 handset subsidy or service credits.

The new schemes are in addition to Wind Mobile’s existing WIND40 and WIND50 unlimited plans.

Pietro Cordova, chief operating officer, WIND Mobile, said: “Our new plans show that we are continually looking at ways to improve our service offering to better meet the needs of our customers.”

In 2014, Wind Mobile, a part of Amsterdam-based Vimpelcom, a global company with nearly 220 million customers, announced U.S. unlimited roaming for $15 per month.

Wind Mobile customers also have the option of bringing their own device, including the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, Nexus 5 and many others, for up to $500 in service credits.
