Boingo Wireless adds 3,000 hotspots in Japan via Wi2

Boingo
Wireless, a provider of software and services, announced a roaming agreement
with Wire and Wireless (Wi2) that allows Boingo customers access to more than
3,000 hotspots operated by the Wi2 300 service throughout Japan.

The
new roaming agreement enables Wi-Fi Internet access on key transit routes,
including more than 800 limousines and buses en route to and from Narita/Haneda
airports and major business and entertainment districts such as Marunouchi, the
Yokohama Bay area and the Tokyo Institute of Technology campus.

The
Wi2 network also
includes Wi-Fi Internet access at landmark business and entertainment
destinations and quick service restaurants.

“Wi2
will provide our customers with high-speed Wi-Fi access as they move around key
cities in Japan,” said Allen Pan, director of Asia for Boingo Wireless.

“As
mobile data demands increase, this will be increasingly important to ensure the
best online experience and to prevent exorbitant data roaming bills for
international travelers,” Pan added.

“Boingo
shares our vision of easy-to-use, always-on connectivity, and we’re excited to
offer their customers access to our expanding Wi2 300 network,” said Hiroshi
Kiji, director of Sales Division for Wi2.

Boingo
offers a variety of wireless plans for customers living and traveling in Asia,
including Boingo Asia Pacific, which provides unlimited Wi-Fi within the region
for one low monthly fee. With the addition of the Wi2 300 hotspots to its
network, Boingo offers access to more than 150,000 hotspots throughout the Asia
Pacific region.
