Batelco Group CEO Alan Whelan said its investment in telecom networks has resulted into 9 percent increase to achieve subscriber base of more than 9.5 million across 14 geographies.

The growth was mainly attributable to the take up of mobile and broadband services due to demand for data solutions.
Batelco is currently working with Ericsson to boost telecom infrastructure.
“We will continue to focus on investing in both strengthening our existing networks, rolling out our fiber network and growing our subscriber base through the delivery of world class solutions,” said Whelan.
Batelco said its 2014 revenue grew 5 percent to BD389.7 million or $1,033.7 million.
Net profit rose 13 percent to BD49.3 million or $130.8 million.
Markets outside of Bahrain contribute 58 percent of revenues and 55 percent of EBITDA, said Batelco.
Net profits for the fourth quarter of 2014 increased 23 percent. Q4 2014 revenues dipped 2 percent.
The Group’s revenues continue to be affected by competition across the Group, mainly in voice services.
