AT&T bags 5-year GPS vehicle tracking contract

Telecom network operator AT&T has signed a 5-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Fleet Management to offer fleet management services to federal agencies.

GSA Fleet, which provides lease and purchase options to 75 government agencies, currently offers more than 204,000 vehicles through lease.

AT&T, according to the BPA announced on Tuesday, will offer GPS vehicle tracking, monitoring and diagnostics capabilities to government agencies to improve the efficiency of their fleet operations. Federal agencies aim to improve operator safety, efficiency in managing fleet fuel usage, and cutting costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

“Our fleet management services can help agencies meet the new emission targets,” said Mike Leff, vice president-civilian, AT&T Government Solutions. Executive Order 13693 requires federal agencies with fleets of 20 vehicles or more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

AT&T said its fleet management solutions deliver data such as vehicle location and performance indicators to enhance route planning, vehicle usage and maintenance scheduling.
