Airtel invests $2.48 billion as Capex in FY 2013

Telecom Lead India: Bharti Airtel has invested $2,486 million as Capex in FY 2013.

The dip in Capex was marginal as compared with FY 2012.

Out of this, Airtel’s Capex in Q3 was $438 million against $651 million in Q4.

India has received substantial increase in Capex.

Airtel’s Capex in India in FY 2013 was Rs 95,959 million against Rs 64,145 million in FY 2012.

Africa’s Capex spend was lower by $790 million.

Bharti Airtel has invested Rs 39,405 million in Africa in FY 2013 against Rs 71,659 million in FY 2012.

During the year, 12,873 new 2G sites and 8,411 new 3G sites were rolled out in India. In Africa, 1,822 new 2G sites and 2,471 new 3G sites were rolled out.

The optic fiber network in India was expanded by 13,724 R Kms. Significant

upgrades were carried out in the network systems to improve quality of the network, especially for data.
