Airtel Capex up 74 percent in Q1 2014-15 to Rs 39,857 million

Bharti Airtel, which achieved 300 million customers in Asia and Africa, today said its Capex (capital spending) rose 74 percent to Rs 39,857 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2014-15.

India SA Capex increased 121 percent, said Airtel.

Capex for Airtel in India grew 130 percent to Rs 29,470 million.

Capital investment for mobile services in India 189 percent to Rs 22,879 million, said Airtel. The India was mainly in  2G and 3G data networks.

Airtel deal with Loop Mobile

Airtel India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka invested Rs 30,285 million (Rs 13,722 million), while Airtel Africa spent Rs 9,571 million (Rs 9,232 million).

Airtel Africa said Capital expenditure during the quarter was $ 160 million for African operations. All new investments are directed towards enhancing data and airtel money capabilities and sustaining the overall double-digit growth trend.
