Airtel brings OTT music app Wynk Music with 1.7 mn songs

Indian telecom service provider Bharti Airtel on Tuesday unveiled Wynk Music mobile application offering 1.7 million songs.

Airtel, announcing this at a press meet in Delhi, claims that it has become the first operator to introduce an OTT (Over-the-Top) mobile application in the Indian market.

Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali language songs are available in addition to international songs.

“With the proliferation of smartphones in India, mobile phones have emerged as the most preferred platform when it comes to experiencing music on the go and accounts for almost 85-90 percent of total digital consumption,” said Srinivasan Gopalan, director – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel.

Wynk Music can be accessed by customers of any mobile operators to stream, download and buy songs and enjoy music without advertisement interfaces.

The free to download application is available on Android and iOS platforms. The free version of the app enables users to stream songs online and tune into internet radio.

Wynk Plus enables users to enjoy unlimited in-app song download and play music offline at Rs 99 on Android and Rs 60 on iOS.

The special price for Airtel customers using Android phones will be Rs 29.

Wynk Freedom subscription will be priced at Rs 129 for Airtel 3G users on Android phones. In this package, there will be no additional data charges

On the app, customers can listen to ad-free Radio playlists. Airtel customers can pay for all purchases on the app using their Airtel balance or bill. Other customers have the option to pay using online banking.
