Vodafone Hungary selects Tellabs to modernizes mobile network

Telecom Lead Europe: Vodafone Hungary, a mobile service
provider in Hungary, has selected Tellabs to modernize its current mobile
backhaul network to move to an IP/Ethernet-based infrastructure and expand its
geographic coverage.

“Tellabs’ Mobile Backhaul Solution provides
cost-efficient, reliable and innovative mobile data services to our customers.
Our network modernization program addresses current needs and meets future
technology and capacity requirements. Our new Tellabs IP Network provides a
highly competitive solution for both needs,” said Csaba Almasi, senior
transmission manager, Vodafone Hungary.

Earlier, Vodafone Hungary had deployed
the Tellabs 8600 Managed Edge System and
the Tellabs 8000 Intelligent Network Manager into its mobile
backhaul network in 2005. Now, it will upgrade the current network to
IP/Ethernet while keeping an eye on the requirements of HSPA and LTE technologies.

Furthermore, the operator wants to add more capacity into
the network to match the growth in consumer data use anticipated in the
upcoming years.

The upgraded network of Vodafone Hungary consists of
Tellabs 8609 Access Switch, which cost-effectively provides greater capacity
in the network.

“We are proud to continue partnering with Vodafone
Hungary on its mobile network modernization. Since 2005, we have helped
Vodafone cope with their backhaul challenges – and now we will continue to help
them to overcome the challenges of IP and 4G technology migration,”
said Tarcisio Ribeiro, vice president, Europe, Middle
East & Africa at Tellabs.

The Tellabs 8000 intelligent manager enables Vodafone
Hungary to quickly deploy new network elements into its network without the
need to integrate a new network management system in its OSS infrastructure and
processes.

Recently, vitroconnect,
a FTTx service provider in Germany deployed Tellabs 7100 optical
transport system for building its backbone network.
