TIESSE SpA Italy integrates Novatel Wireless M2M module into Levanto router

Telecom Lead Europe: TIESSE SpA, an Italian Telemetry
device manufacturer has selected Novatel Wireless for their M2M Enabler
modules.

TIESSE will integrate the Enabler module from Novatel
Wireless into Levanto routers. The integration will provide one of the largest
Italian utilities with upgraded communication for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)
concentrators.

“The Enabler technology is a key component of our
solution ensuring high performance, a reliable and always-on service which
continues to be a primary focus for us,” said Managing Director of TIESSE,
Fabrizia Montefiori.

The Levanto router works as a communication gateway for
the data concentrator which handles the automatic meter reading for electricity
meters. Integration with the Novatel Wireless Enabler module will allow it to
do on-demand reading, saving of meter data, meter supervision, tampering
notification etc.

“Our proven form factor supports rapid product
development and deployment, robustness in the field and scalability as our
customers’ needs grow and we’re pleased to be supporting TIESSE,” said Joe
Peterson, VP of Worldwide Sales, M2M Embedded Solutions for Novatel Wireless.

The Levanto router is based on robust industrial
grade design and chassis (IP54-rated) for external use designed to operate
under extreme conditions and temperatures.

The Novatel Wireless Enabler module is built on design of
the Enfora Enabler series. The module is a low power platform that delivers
reliable connectivity, future-proof design and device intelligence needed for
M2M applications.

Novatel Wireless expands M2M module portfolio

In January, Novatel Wireless expanded its
machine-to-machine (M2M) module portfolio. The company added support for
CDMA2000 1X and HSDPA with two new modules leveraging chipsets and ensuring
future-proof design and capabilities.
