Telekom selects Nokia for FTTH network in Slovenia

Telekom Slovenije has selected Nokia as a vendor to supply broadband equipment to bring 10Gb/s fiber for its FTTH network.

The deployment of the Quillion chipset-powered Nokia ISAM FX series will replace some existing access nodes and will also support the newly built FTTH network across the country.

Nokia’s solution will enable Telekom Slovenije to immediately offer up to 10Gb/s services for residential and business customers, with the option in the future of evolving to 25Gb/s PON network to support advanced services.

Mitja Stular, CTO at Telekom Slovenije, said: “Utilization of the new XGS-PON technology means high-speed and higher-quality fixed broadband connections. High capacity fiber networks complement our mobile network and strengthen our position in the upcoming 5G world.”

“Nokia is the leader in 10Gb/s symmetrical PON and the only vendor to enable a smooth evolution to 25G speeds,” Sandy Motley, President, Fixed Networks at Nokia said.
