Telecom Lead India: Tata Consultancy Services, a provider
of IT services, consulting and business solutions, has posted revenues of Rs
14,869 crore for Q1 FY13, up 37.7 percent, as compared to Rs 10,797 crore for
Q1 FY12.
For Q1 FY13, the company’s net profit stood at Rs 3,318
crore in Q1 FY13, up 37.4 percent, as compared to Rs 2,415 crore for Q1 FY12.
The company has earned 10.3 percent of the total revenues
from telecom domain in Q1 FY13, increased 15.3 percent q-o-q.
Region-wise, North America fetched 53.5 percent of the
total revenues, while Latin America contributed 3.3 percent to the total
revenue.
Europe contributed 26.6 percent to the total revenues,
whereas Asia-Pacific brought 14.5 percent, including 7.1 percent from India.
MEA region fetched 2.1percent to the total revenues.
We have seen strong, secular growth across all our
service lines and industry segments driven by robust volumes from key markets
like North America, Europe and UK. Our investments in new technologies and
platforms are bearing fruit with increasing market traction and we are
confident of playing a pivotal role in our customers’ future business
evolution,” said N Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer and managing
director of TCS.
During the quarter, TCS inked a multi-million dollar managed
services deal with a leading communications solutions provider from North
America to provide application support and maintenance services for their core
business processes.
The unprecedented volatility among major currencies and
the Indian rupee will continue to be a challenge in the short term and we are
taking the steps to mitigate any risks arising from this scenario,” said S.
Mahalingam, chief financial officer and executive director of TCS.
The company said that it is building innovative suite of
tablet apps for a global bank to deploy with consumers in multiple markets.
Furthermore, the company is developing apps for a global
high-end audio equipment manufacturer, which will enable consumers to play
cloud-based entertainment content on smart phones.
TCS is also deploying TCS tablet app Crew Power for a
major airline to empower cabin attendants to serve customers better.
