Sidera Networks, a provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced
it will further expand its network in Bristol County, Massachusetts to support
OSHEAN’s mission to provide colleges and universities with dedicated fiber
connectivity to advance the collaboration and performance of key classroom
applications.
Earlier this year, OSHEAN, a nonprofit coalition of
universities, hospitals and government agencies dedicated to providing
technology solutions for its member institutions, selected Sidera
for its network project spanning from Rhode Island into Massachusetts.
This network is designed at a rate of 10 Gbps, a speed
critical for research applications and superior communications.
“Sidera has proven to be an ideal partner for us,
with the flexibility and expertise to support us on the next phase of this
expansion,” said George Loftus, president and CEO of OSHEAN. “Now
even more of our members will have access to Sidera’s high-speed, scalable
infrastructure.”
“The institutions in the OSHEAN
network depend on seamless and efficient network connectivity,” said Mike
Sicoli, CEO of Sidera Networks. “This project will support more colleges
and universities within the OSHEAN coalition, and we look forward to delivering
flexible, high-capacity solutions throughout this region.”
Sidera Networks is committed to providing award winning
service and support to educational institutions. Sidera’s provides services to
nearly 50 leading colleges and universities along the Northeast corridor,
offering tailored solutions, scalable bandwidth and unique routes.
Recently, Sidera Networks has
enhanced
its Switched Ethernet service by offering three Class of Service (CoS) options
with guaranteed service levels to allow customers to prioritize traffic over
the Sidera network.
Sidera’s CoS options deliver end-to-end performance based
on low latency, jitter and availability characteristics. Sidera leverages
Quality of Service (QoS) technology to tag and move data securely through its
high-capacity network.
