Shilpi Cable JV aims 30% share in Indian Antenna market

Shilpi Cable Technologies JV to enter Indian Antenna market
Shilpi Cable Technologies has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Eyecom Telecommunications Equipments of New Zealand to enter the Indian Antenna market.

The equal joint venture will target 30 percent share of the Indian Antenna market in next three years.

Headquartered in New Zealand, Eyecom Telecommunications Equipments is one of the leading RF path technology solution providers globally.

The partnership enables Shilpi Cable to become a one-stop RF path solution provider in the Indian telecom network space and introduce Base Station Antenna (BSA) products for 2G, 3G and 4G rollouts in India.

Shilpi Cable has conducted field trials of its Antennas in the Indian market. The Indian cable company plans to set up a manufacturing facility at Chopanki, Rajasthan. It aims to kick off commercial production in the next 6 months. The Antennas facility will manufacture around 15,000 Antennas per month, said Shilpi Cable. The facility would also produce other products such as Repeaters and IBS Passive Components.

As part of the JV, Eyecom will transfer the technical know-how for manufacturing and carry out research and development for the future technologies for the Indian market, which is currently estimated at approximately Rs 1,500 crore.

“With the increase in data demand and government’s push on Digital India there is an emerging need to provide improved technology solutions in the telecom space. Our JV with Eyecom will address this demand and aim at capturing at least 30 percent market share in the RF path solution market over the next three years,” said Manish Goel, managing director of Shilpi Cable Technologies.
