Nokia to deploy GPON technology at Netplus

Nokia announced Netplus, the broadband business of Fastway Media, a Multi-System Operator (MSO) in India, will deploy Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) technology.
Nokia Finland jobNetplus delivers broadband services across 135 cities in 6 states in India. Engineers of Netplus will roll out Nokia’s GPON technology in India with initial deployments starting in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The upgraded network will allow Netplus subscribers to enjoy new ultra-broadband such as IPTV and quad-play services, Prem Ojha, chief executive officer of Fastway Group, said in a statement.

Nokia’s GPON broadband solution allows integration with the existing network enabling Netplus to grow their network. The solution, based on Nokia’s mini-OLT and ISAM DF products, facilitates flexible deployments deep in the network, eliminating the need for a central office while driving cost efficiencies.

Vinish Bawa, head of Emerging Business at Nokia, said: “Like Netplus, MSOs across India are transforming their networks to respond to customer requirements. We are now engaged with all the top MSOs in the country.”
