Nokia inks XGS-PON fiber network deal with Hotwire

Nokia announced its deal with Hotwire, a fiber-optic telecommunications provider in US, to deploy XGS-PON1 fiber solution to enhance its network.
Nokia XGS-PON1 fiber solution Finland-based Nokia said Hotwire aims to deliver 10Gbps broadband services to its residential and business customers in Florida and North Carolina, including Salisbury, North Carolina.

Hotwire’s deployment of Nokia’s XGS-PON solution will enable the operator to launch new ultra-broadband services such as streaming video in 4k, 8k and 12k.

The investment in Nokia broadband technology provides a cost-effective upgrade path for Hotwire’s existing fiber network, allowing the company to move from GPON (2.5Gbps) to XGS-PON (10Gbps) using the same access node.

Hotwire Communications, which offers services to residential, commercial, hospitality, government, and educational customers in fifteen states, is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale with operations in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Philadelphia.

“We’re now making that network even faster for our customers by rolling out the first 10-Gigabit service in Florida and North Carolina. With Nokia’s solution, we can enhance the capacity of our network with minimal impact or network upgrades,” Jonathan Bullock, VP of Corporate Development & Government at Hotwire, said.

Nokia will be supplying ISAM platform, residential gateways and access controller to Hotwire.

Nokia’s XGS/TWDM-PON customers include Frontier, Greenlight, EPB, SKB and China Mobile, among others.
