New Freescale to launch 28-nm QorIQ AMP series processors

Telecom Lead India: Freescale Semiconductor, a provider
of embedded processing solutions is set to launch two new QorIQ AMP series
processors.

 

The The new 28-nm QorIQ AMP T1042 and T2080 processors
will enable manufacturers of advanced networking equipment to address
increasingly stringent energy, security and processing requirements.

 

The new 28-nm QorIQ AMP T1042 and T2080 are the entry
level and mid range segments devices. These new devices are addition to the company’s
QorIQ AMP series and joins T4240 product for high end systems.

 

Leveraging Freescale’s R&D strength and wealth of
networking IP, these sophisticated solutions exemplify the kind of intelligent
integration and commitment to compatible, scalable product portfolios that has
come to define QorIQ processors,” said Bernd Lienhard, vice president and
general manager of Freescale’s Networking Processor Division.

 

The company reckons that the newly enhanced QorIQ AMP
series provides a comprehensive and highly scalable portfolio of 64-bit and
software-compatible devices.

 

These devices are based on a common architecture and
incorporates Freescale multicore IP. Running on shared virtualization
technology, these devices offers advanced acceleration engines, sophisticated
power management systems and next-generation security features are common to
all AMP products.

 

 The company also announced that its QorIQ AMP
portfolio will soon include quad-core, 800 MHz products operating at less than
five watts, devices integrating eight virtual cores at 1.8 GHz of performance
per core, as well as processors featuring 12 dual-threaded cores.

 

Freescale to introduce VortiQa intelligent traffic
classification software

 

Earlier, Freescale Semiconductor introduced VortiQa
intelligent traffic classification and load balancing (ITCL) software that
classifies and distributes data traffic flow throughout enterprise and data
center network elements, including multiple VAS nodes.
