Maxis, a prominent telecommunications provider in Malaysia, has partnered with Nokia to enhance the connectivity and scalability of its data center infrastructure.

This collaboration involves the deployment of Nokia’s data center switches and Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform, which will enable Maxis to build a more efficient and robust data center architecture. By modernizing its data center connectivity technology, Maxis aims to simplify network operations, accelerate issue resolution, and automate workloads while ensuring a secure and resilient infrastructure.
Capex of Maxis has reached RM 674 million during 2024 with a focus on prioritising essential investments that enhance Maxis’ integrated network capabilities.
As part of the deployment, Nokia will integrate its 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR) data center switches and EDA technology across multiple Maxis data centers. This upgrade will allow Maxis to provision infrastructure resources without delays, streamline network complexity, and ensure that applications operating within the network can scale efficiently and securely.
According to Maxis Chief Executive Officer Goh Seow Eng, this initiative aligns with Malaysia’s increasing prominence as a hub for data centers and hyperscalers. The expansion is in response to the rising adoption of AI-enabled cloud infrastructure, which demands high-performance and reliable connectivity solutions.
Nokia’s expertise in cloud networking plays a crucial role in helping service providers and cloud builders develop advanced data center networks that can handle the evolving demands of AI workloads.
Nokia’s EDA technology enables automation, reduces manual intervention, minimizes errors, and optimizes compute resource consumption, ensuring high operational efficiency at scale. This automation-driven approach improves response times and supports seamless network-wide operations with consistent performance.
A key element of this deployment is Nokia’s 7220 IXR, an essential component of its Data Center Fabric solution. Nokia’s solution ensures that Maxis remains at the forefront of technological innovation, enabling the delivery of superior digital experiences for its customers.
