M2M provider Encore Networks to launch temperature hardened version of C2C router

Telecom Lead America: Encore Networks, a provider of
machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions for fixed and wireless communications, will
launch a temperature hardened version of C2C router.

The ruggedized C2C is a low-cost, embedded replacement of
Plain Old Telephone Services (POTS) lines. POTS are needed when migrating to an
IP Cellular infrastructure in M2M and Legacy Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) applications located in harsh environments.

Encore Networks said the temperature hardened C2C will be
on display at the UTC Expo 2012.

The C2C provides IP interworking capabilities to an
analog modem interface in a single box solution. It allows remote Customer Premise
Equipment (CPE) to function with no changes to Operations Administration and
Maintenance (OA&M).

By converting legacy M2M and SCADA applications to
cellular services, the C2C provides the benefits of a 3G cellular network’s
increased data throughput, reliability, and data security by utilizing SSL or
IPSec (AES256, 3DES) and other IP-based services.

In response to customer input, and the fact that POTS
lines have begun to exhibit diminishing reliability and increasing costs, we
continue to develop and deliver products that allow more users to eliminate
their dependence on analog copper lines and move to a lower cost, all IP
wireless cellular infrastructure,” said Scott Burk, sales director of Encore
Networks.

Encore claims that its BANDIT routers are manufactured in
the U.S. for mission critical applications in M2M, SCADA, Smart Grid,
utilities, oil and gas, waste and water management, industrial, railroad, mass
transit infrastructure, banking/ATM, point-of-sale and telemedicine
applications.

Encore is a member of the Virtual Private Network
Consortium (VPNC), the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC), and the National Rural
Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and the ATM Industry Association
(ATMIA).
