IHS Brazil Completes Installation of Distributed Antenna Systems at Navegantes Airport

IHS Brazil, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, has implemented Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) at Navegantes Airport, under the management of CCR Aeroportos, marking a significant advancement in connectivity solutions for travelers.
IHS TowersThe DAS installation aims to bolster network coverage within the airport premises and enhance communication services for passengers.

Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) offer a robust connectivity solution particularly tailored for large indoor environments like airports, addressing challenges posed by physical barriers such as concrete walls and metal structures. This technology extends coverage to both indoor and outdoor areas of airports, ensuring seamless connectivity for passengers across terminals.

The deployment includes a network of internal antennas interconnected via fiber optic cables, strategically positioned to optimize signal transmission and improve coverage. Ground-level antennas, specialized for 5G transmission, contribute to achieving high-speed data transfer and low latency, crucial for supporting a wide array of services including Internet of Things (IoT) devices and machine-to-machine communication.

Cassio Futuro, Commercial and Operations Director at IHS Brazil, emphasized the significance of this infrastructure upgrade, stating, “We are committed to enhancing connectivity at Brazilian airports, providing mobile operators with top-notch infrastructure to benefit the millions of passengers who transit through these terminals daily.”

Monique Henriques, Executive Retail Manager at CCR Aeroportos, highlighted the airport’s dedication to improving passenger experience, saying, “Increasing the speed of free internet access was just the beginning for us. Enhancing communication infrastructure is vital for elevating connectivity standards and ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for our visitors.”

IHS Towers, the parent company of IHS Brazil, boasts a vast portfolio of over 40,000 towers across 11 markets worldwide, including Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, and South Africa. This latest deployment at Navegantes Airport underscores IHS Brazil’s commitment to advancing telecommunications infrastructure and supporting the evolving needs of modern travelers.

As airports increasingly become hubs of connectivity and digital interaction, investments in robust communication infrastructure like DAS are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of travel experiences.
