Hitron launches DOCSIS based 3×3 wireless cable gateway

Hitron Technologies, a provider of networking solutions, will be launching
DOCSIS 3.0 8×4 wireless cable gateway with integrated four-port Gigabit
Ethernet switch and Wi-Fi 802.11n 3X3 MIMO Access Point.

This wireless cable gateway, the Hitron CGN, delivers speeds of up to 320Mbps
(8×4) with eight bonded downstream channels over its DOCSIS interface. The
integrated four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch and first of its kind Wi-Fi
802.11n 3X3 MIMO Access Point enable fast and easy home networking.

The WiFi solution will outperform current 2×2 solutions by up to 250 percent
enabling subscribers to take full advantage of the speeds provided by
DOCSIS3.0. The CGN provides both higher short range bandwidth, as well as
faster speeds at longer ranges while covering larger areas more fully than
current solutions.

The CGN supports pre-configured and pre-enabled Wi-Fi security via Wi-Fi
Protected Setup (WPS), allowing the end-user to rapidly set up a secure
wireless network without manual configuration.

For the network and routing management, the Hitron CGN supports TR-69, HNAP and
IPv6 routing. By selecting Hitron’s solution, cable operators can not only
choose DSLite or 6RD for their different IPv6 deployment and transition
strategies but also enhance their management and stability for low total cost
of ownership.

“Building on our success with tier one European and Asian cable operators,
this is an exciting time for Hitron Technologies as we enter the North American
market.” said Todd Babic, chief sales and marketing officer, Hiltron Technologies.
