Etisalat Misr selects IBM FlashSystem storage to speed up analytics

Etisalat Misr, which has more than 22 million subscribers in Egypt, has selected IBM FlashSystem, a storage solution, to protect against fraud by speeding up real-time analytics to identify fraudulent activity in areas such as calls and unauthorized internet use.

IBM FlashSystem V840 will assist Etisalat Misr to improve the efficiency of its fraud management application, reducing the time spent on processing call records by 15 times and improving the speed of fraud detection by 37 times.

“We are growing very fast and as a result, we are continuously looking for innovative IT solutions that can help deliver seamless security and management of our clients’ devices, content and transactions,” said Khalid AlKaf, director of Operations & Infrastructure at Etisalat Misr.

IBM FlashSystem V840 has enabled Etisalat Misr to improve its operations by 300 percent. The deployment will also enhance analytics performance, reduce storage footprint and lower energy costs. It will capture and analyze fraud data virtually instantaneously instead of taking three days, said IBM.
