Ericsson Networks head Johan Wibergh resigns, CEO gets additional role

Ericsson today said its Networks business head Johan Wibergh has decided to resign from the company.

Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg will assume the role as Head of Segment Networks. This will be his additional role at Ericsson.

Johan Wibergh, executive vice president and head of Segment Networks, will leave his position and take on a role outside Ericsson. He joined Ericsson in 1996. Since 2008 Wibergh has also been part of Ericsson’s Executive Leadership Team.

Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg said that under Johan’s leadership Ericsson consolidated its market leadership in mobile networks and taken steps to drive company transformation in IP, Cloud and the evolution towards 5G.

As head of networks business, Johan Wibergh has led all aspects of business strategy, R&D, product management and sales for the segment, a business with €13 billion of annual revenues in 2013 and around 27,000 employees worldwide.

During his tenure, Ericsson has strengthened its leadership in mobile equipment with 35 percent global market share and a double-digit operating margin.
