Ericsson inks 3-year deal with Axiata to provide microwave and radio

Telecom network vendor Ericsson today announced 3-year global framework deal with Axiata Group to provide microwave and radio technologies.

The deal extends the supply of microwave, 2G, 3G and 4G wireless technologies, which includes Ericsson MINI-LINK microwave transmission, multi-standard RBS6000 base stations for macro and small cell networks, and Ericsson Psi Coverage solution.

This week, Axiata announced its global framework deal with Huawei, NEC, Ericsson, among others.

Ericsson will be one of the main suppliers of microwave and radio equipment for the expansion of GSM, WCDMA and LTE coverage and capacity to boost their network capacity and performance to create new revenue streams from data services and enhance user experiences.

Ericsson RBS6000 radio base station can operate on all standards GSM, WCDMA and LTE and offers a seamless, integrated and environmentally friendly solution that is forward-compatible.

Axiata has telecom operations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India and Singapore.

The Group has over 250 million mobile subscribers in Asia and posted revenue of $5.8 billion in 2013.
