Ericsson in deal with G&D to deliver SIM management services

Ericsson
Telecom network vendor Ericsson announced its deal with Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to deliver remote SIM management services.

The remote SIM management services will be delivered through Device Connection Platform (DCP), Ericsson’s Internet of Things/M2M platform, and G&D’s subscription management platform SmartTrust AirOn.

The integration of the two platforms will enable the remote provisioning and management of embedded SIM profiles and policies within a secure process. DCP-hosted operators will be able to manage embedded SIM connectivity remotely as part of Internet of Things / M2M solutions.

Enterprises and OEMs can manage embedded SIM devices across multiple operators and regions throughout the complete device life cycle, from manufacturing to phase-out.

The services will be delivered in accordance with the GSMA’s industry-standard Embedded SIM Specification.

The proof of concept for Ericsson and G&D’s offering was recently demonstrated at the Asia IoT Business Platform event in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 25 and 26, 2015. The demonstration, which also included change of subscription between two different M2M connectivity platforms, was presented with DCP-hosted operator Indosat, member of Ooredoo Group, and one of its partner operators.

“Indosat is the only operator in Indonesia to showcase such innovative technology and demonstrate its commitment to provide services that simplify M2M deployments in Indonesia and South East Asia,” said Mirela Juravle, head of M2M Project, INDOSAT.
