CIS operators select Huawei coherent 100G solution

Telecom Lead Asia: Several operators in the CIS,
including Rostelecom, MTS, and Beltelecom have selected coherent 100G solution
from Huawei.

The company said that its coherent 100G technology has
now been deployed by operators in the vast CIS region including European
networks.

100G coherent WDM technology offers an answer to the
explosive growth in global demand for bandwidth-hungry services. This
technology has matured quickly to become a commercially viable solution to
control the bandwidth flood.

Huawei has said that it worked with several top European
operators, such as KPN International, SFR, and TDC, to build next-generation
100G WDM networks. Also, this year, many CIS operators started constructing
100G networks.

Huawei’s coherent 100G solution is built around OTN
architecture that supports flexible service grooming. Till date, Huawei
deployed more than 25 commercial and 50 trial 100G networks.

Huawei’s 100G solution leverages soft decision
technology, coherent technology, and digital signal processing (DSP)
technologies.

The company claims that the solution provides the longest
transmission distance in the industry and supports transmission over a distance
of 2500 km without electrical regeneration.

Huawei unveils new WDM prototype

Recently, Huawei came up with its new WDM prototype,
improving upon the current mainstream commercial products that use a 50GHz
fixed spectrum interval.

Huawei’s new WDM prototype features a flexible spectrum
interval with a minimum granularity of 12.5GHz, which increases the spectrum
utilization and flexibility of the WDM system, and lays a foundation for
multi-carrier technologies and bandwidth-flexible optical networks beyond
100G.
