BSNL Directed to Install 39 Mobile Towers and Upgrade Networks in Udupi
Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has directed BSNL to install mobile towers at 39 sites allocated by the Udupi district administration to improve connectivity. During a review meeting in Manipal, he urged officials to upgrade existing installations from 3G to 4G, resolve network disruptions and improve service quality. Connectivity problems were reported at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, nearby hospitals and tourist and religious destinations, including Kapu and Kamalashile. Poojary also called for diesel generators at district facilities and tower sites, with batteries or solar-powered backup systems where necessary. He directed officials to address pending electricity connections and site-clearance requirements, announcing monthly review meetings to monitor progress and ensure improvements.
Macquarie Telecom and Netskope Expand Integrated SASE Services in Australia
Macquarie Telecom and Netskope have expanded their Australian partnership by integrating Netskope’s software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) technology into their existing Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) offering. The combined managed service brings networking and cybersecurity functions together on a unified platform for mid-market and enterprise customers. Macquarie Telecom will manage service delivery, while Netskope supplies the underlying networking and security technology. The offering aims to simplify operations, secure cloud access and help organisations manage remote workforces and artificial intelligence usage. Netskope operates more than 120 full-computer data centres globally, including seven in Australia. The companies are targeting businesses facing increasing cybersecurity requirements and Australian regulatory obligations, including the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and Essential Eight framework.
Ericsson and Optus Deploy Australia’s First Indoor Fusion 5G System
Ericsson and Optus have completed Australia’s first deployment of Ericsson’s Indoor Fusion 8828 system at an Optus store in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, to strengthen indoor 4G and 5G coverage. The installation combines the Indoor Fusion Unit 8828 with Ericsson’s Radio Dot 4455 distributed antenna system. Each unit can support up to eight Radio Dots and cover an area of up to 8,000 square metres. The deployment supports Optus services across the 3.5 GHz, 2.1 GHz and 1.8 GHz spectrum bands. Ericsson and Optus said more than 80 percent of mobile data usage occurs indoors, highlighting demand for reliable connectivity in commercial buildings, retail outlets and public venues.
