BT selects GENBAND IP voice infrastructure to expand IP Interconnect solution

infrastructure and application solutions, announced that British
Telecommunications (BT) has selected GENBAND to support enhanced Global IP
Interconnect solution for its UK and global wholesale customers.


BT will deploy GENBAND solutions to deliver SIP-based IP
Interconnect for other global tier 1 and tier 2 carriers. In addition to
supporting UK and global network access, this solution will support Global
interconnect and IDD.


BT will deploy GENBAND’s S3 Intelligent Session Border
Controllers, G9 Converged Media Gateways and C3 Gateway Controllers providing
access to the PSTN while ensuring secure IP interconnects and enabling
transcoding.


The combined GENBAND Interconnect solution seamlessly
interfaces with NetNumber’s Titan centralized routing solution to take optimal
route decisions and to apply policies to ensure route quality and
profitability.


BT’s enhanced Global IP Interconnect service will enable
other networks, including fixed-line operators, mobile-network operators, VoIP
providers and other operators worldwide to interconnect with BT and transport
global voice traffic seamlessly,” said Trevor Wyatt, BT Director of Strategic
Voice Platforms.


Powered by GENBAND’s IP infrastructure solutions, it will
support new innovative offerings for BT’s tier 1 and tier 2 carriers, while
reducing network costs, expanding markets and interworking with the growing
volume of peering and managed interconnect services.


The integrated GENBAND solution being deployed offers BT
an enhanced global IP exchange (IPX) solution that reduces overall cost while
improving the customer experience for fixed and mobile carriers worldwide,”
