Aviat Networks launches outdoor microwave router

Aviat outdoor microwave router

Aviat Networks, a provider of microwave networking solutions, has launched the CTR 8380, an outdoor microwave router.

The company said CTR 8380 converges microwave and IP/MPLS functionalities into a single compact device for outdoor deployments.

Aviat Networks said CTR 8380’s zero footprint design lowers site costs by eliminating the need for shelters or cabinets, reducing air conditioning requirements and lowering power and fuel consumption. CTR 8380 is also ideal for rooftop locations for delivery of enterprise services and well suited for all-outdoor macrocell and small cell backhaul.

CTR 8380 extends IP/MPLS to the cell site, improving network scalability, lowering costs and enabling new IP-based VPN services.
