The Sweden-based telecom network maker said Airtel will benefit from Ericsson’s packet core network applications and functions. Ericsson will supply solutions like Ericsson virtual Evolved Packet Gateway (vEPG) that follow ETSI standards.

The deployment will enhance capacity in Airtel’s network and enable the network to address the rapidly growing demand for high-speed data services.

Randeep Sekhon, CTO of Bharti Airtel, said: “We are investing in innovative technologies and solutions to enable better data experience for our customers in India.”
Ericsson is one of the leading suppliers in the virtual Evolved Packet Core market for several years.

Nunzio Mirtillo, head of Ericsson South East Asia, Oceania and India, “The technologies and solutions that we are providing Airtel are a key part of Ericsson’s 5G Core offering.”

Ericsson said its NFVI solution enables mobile operators to deploy virtual telecom, Operations Support Systems (OSS), Business Support Systems (BSS), Information Technology and media applications with speed while keeping the total cost of ownership (TCO) low.
