A10 Networks presents 5G solutions roadmap

A10 Networks, an automated cybersecurity solutions provider with $230 million plus revenue, recently outlined its 5G strategy, solutions and roadmap in order to assist global mobile carriers for building their 5G network.
KT 5G at Asian Games in IndonesiaSan Jose, California-based A10 Networks has revealed that it’s working with two unidentified telecom operators in Asia to work on 5G pilot network.

A major Japanese mobile carrier has selected A10’s Thunder Convergent Firewall (CFW) Gi/SGi firewall solution for its 5G pilot network. The mobile carrier’s 5G network is expected to become commercially available beginning in 2020. This is one of the existing clients of A10 Networks.

Another Asian Tier-1 mobile service provider has selected the A10 5G-GiLAN solution for its 5G-ready network rollout. The service provider is using the Gi/SGi firewall and advanced network translation components to meet the demands of its 5G infrastructure rollout and IoT adoption.

The telecom service provider plans to commercialize 5G services beginning early in 2019. A10 will offer a consolidated security and networking solution to integrate with its vEPC platform. The A10 solution will address IPv6 demands by supporting IPv4 to IPv6 network interoperability in their network.

“Our early bets on 5G solutions are paying off as we have won multiple pilot projects and are best positioned to address market needs,” Lee Chen, founder and CEO of A10 Networks, said.

A10’s 5G solutions

A10’s solutions address mobile network architecture requirements for consolidated services, greater scale, and lower latency communications across the Gi-LAN, virtualized EPC, and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) environments.

A10 supports existing 4G and 3G network architectures and use cases for the Gi-LAN and EPC, while meeting requirements for 5G emerging architectures. These solutions include functional consolidation for application visibility and control, subscriber-aware intelligent traffic steering, Gi/SGi firewall with Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), GTP/SCTP firewall, integrated DDoS, and more.

A10 solutions can scale concurrent sessions to multi-billion levels and throughput to multi-terabit levels in a scale-out cluster.  5G deployments can benefit from compact and efficient options, for example 220 Gbps in 1RU PNFs, or high performance 100 Gbps VNFs.

A10’s 5G DDoS Protection solution includes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) via Dynamic Attack Pattern Recognition (DAPR), continuous baselining, and One-DDoS for distributed intelligence, for visibility into all packets, versus traditional sample-based only solutions.

A10’s solutions can be delivered in a variety of form factors to meet the demands of the SDN and NFV environments. These solutions are integrated with SDN and NFV architectures and interoperate with multiple MANO environments for faster network rollout and optimized performance.

A10 provides flexible software licensing and consumption via A10’s FlexPool subscription-based capacity pooling licensing.

A10’s Harmony Controller provides intelligence to manage subscriber services, meet Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) mandates and compliance, and deliver per subscriber analytics. Harmony Controller provides visibility, management, orchestration and automation.
