Sprint inks deal with HTC and Qualcomm for 5G mobile smart hub

Sprint announced its partnership with HTC and Qualcomm Technologies to launch a 5G mobile smart hub in the first half of 2019.
Sprint 5G with HTC and QualcommSprint aims to launch 5G in 2019. Sprint is waiting for final approval the US regulators for its $26 billion merger with rival T-Mobile US.

Sprint, the fourth largest telecom service provider, earlier announced its partnership with LG Electronics to launch the nation’s first 5G smartphone in 2019.

The product will have Gigabit LTE and 5G capabilities. The 5G device for Sprint’s mobile 5G network will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform using the Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

“This innovative product will allow customers on the go, at work or at home to enjoy Sprint 5G on multiple devices with incredibly fast connectivity for content sharing, mobile gaming, entertainment and so much more,” John Saw, chief technology officer of Sprint, said.

Sprint will launch its mobile 5G network in 9 large cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C., with additional markets to be announced.
