Samsung launches dual SIM smartphones in Indian telecom market

By Telecom Lead Team: Samsung has unveiled its first ever
Dual SIM smartphones the Galaxy Ace Duos (SCH-i589), Galaxy Y Pro
Duos (GT B5512) and Galaxy Y Duos (GT-S6102) for the Indian market.

The company also launched Champ Deluxe Duos (C3312) and
Star 3 Duos (GT-S5222) in the feature phone segment.

 

Samsung India Electronics aims to capture 60 per cent of
the smartphone market in the country this year. The company holds a 41 per cent
share in the smartphone market at present,” said Ranjit Yadav, country head,
mobile and IT, Samsung.

 

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos (SCH-i589) comes with Dual
SIM Dual Active technology that allows consumers to be available on CDMA and
GSM nos. Priced at Rs 16,900 the phone incorporates an 832MHz processor, and
runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

 

The phone has an 8.89 cm HVGA display, EvDO Rev A
capability with data downloads at the speed of 3.1 Mbps, and a 1,650 mAh
battery.

 

The Galaxy Y Pro Duos (GT B5512) is an Android based Dual
SIM QWERTY bar device. The phone comes with WiFi direct and BT 3.0 support along
with Touch + QWERTY Key Pad and an optical track pad. With a 6.5 cm LQVGA,
Capacitive Touch Screen, 3MP FF with VGA Video Telephony Camera and
a    1,350 mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro is priced at Rs
11,090.

 

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (GT-S6102) is a full touch
Dual SIM device.  Priced at Rs 10,490 the device comes uploaded with
Social Hub and Samsung messenger, Chat ON. With optimized UX for QVGA
Resolution 7.85 cms (3.14″) Screen and 832 MHz Processor, the device
offers spacious viewing and speedy performance.

 

The feature phone Champ Deluxe Duos offers a 1.3 MP
camera, MP3 player, FM radio, and a 3.5 mm ear jack. Priced at Rs 4,790 it also
offers PushMail with Activesync, Opera Mini Browser, and Bluetooth 3.0,
offering connectivity at 24 MBPs.

 

Samsung Star 3 Duos is a full touch feature phone at a
price of Rs 6,920, offering a 3.0′ QVGA TFT with C-TSP, 3MP camera and a
1000mAh battery.

 

The contribution of dual-SIM to the overall mobile
market has been steadily increasing from 27 per cent in the fourth quarter of
2010 to 45 per cent in 2011. We will consolidate our position in smartphone
category by creating new segment in smartphone market,” Yadav added.

 

Samsung
recently launched the GalaxyTab 620 with a 1.2GHz Dual Core processor and
Android Honeycomb 3.2 OS. The GalaxyTab 620 is priced at Rs 30,250.
