OPPO leads Q1 2024 smartphone market in Indonesia

Smartphone market in Indonesia grew 27.4 percent year-over-year and 11.5 percent quarter-over-quarter to 10 million units in 1Q24, according to IDC report.

Main vendors in smartphone market in Indonesia are: Oppo (19.9 percent), Samsung (17.3 percent), Transsion (16.1 percent), Vivo (15.8 percent), Xiaomi (15.6 percent) in Q1 2024.

International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker Average Selling Price (ASP) rose 1.6 percent to US$215 in 1Q24.

5G share in the smartphone market in Indonesia increased to 28.2 percent, from 17.6 percent in 1Q23, driven by new model releases as more vendors expanded their 5G offerings. 5G growth in this quarter was mostly driven by OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi.

Samsung continued to lead the 5G market with their expansive 5G offerings. ASP of 5G smartphones dropped 21.3 percent YoY and 23.4 percent QoQ, reaching US$469 in 1Q24.

“Vendors will try to continue this momentum, through channel expansion, price cuts, and doubling down on marketing strategies, while also facing external challenges such as increasing manufacturing and material costs, weakening rupiah, and uncertain geopolitical situation at the global level,” Vanessa Aurelia, Research Analyst, IDC Indonesia, said.
