Motorola to open 50 more Moto Hubs retail stores

Moto Hub in India
Motorola, a Lenovo group company, plans to open 50 more Moto Hubs in the country by the end of this year.

The strategy of Motorola is to enhance the retail experience to smartphone users in key cities in India, the second largest mobile market after China.

Lenovo has lost its position in the top 5 ranking in the global smartphone market though other China based technology companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi and OPPO are doing well competing with Apple and Samsung.

Xiaomi’s range of Android smartphone models such as the Redmi 4A, is proving wildly popular in India, snatching volumes from competitors such as Lenovo and Micromax, said Linda Sui, director at Strategy Analytics.

Huawei, one of the top 5 tablet makers as well as smartphones globally, has been able to slowly steal share from rivals like Lenovo thanks to its focus on low-cost and cellular-enabled tablets.

Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group (MBG), which includes Moto and Lenovo-branded smartphones, posted 5.4 percent drop in sales in the fiscal 2017.

Lenovo achieved 19.7 percent revenue growth in the fourth fiscal quarter outside of China, with total sales of $1.7 billion. Fourth quarter smartphone shipments increased 17.4 percent to 11.3 million units outside China, beating the market significantly by 12.8 points.

Moto Hubs

Motorola on Thursday opened six Moto Hubs in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.

The technology company opened the first Moto Hub stores at Great India Place and Logix Mall in Noida, Shipra Mall in Indirapuram and Xperia Mall, Korum Mall and Viviana Mall in Mumbai.

“We believe with the launch of this new retail channel ‘Moto Hub’, we are giving the customers an opportunity to get access to the complete Motorola portfolio, our technology and devices, in an environment that is more open,” Sudhin Mathur, managing director, Motorola Mobility India.

Moto Hub stores will be a key destination for mobile consumers to experience the latest Motorola technology and get a hands-on demo of the entire product portfolio.

These stores will house devices that are available exclusively online and will also showcase the complete portfolio of Motorola devices.

Motorola is offering free Motorola accessories on the purchase of Motorola E, C and G series and 50 percent discount on MODS on the purchase of Moto Z2 play along with easy EMI options as part of the inaugural offer.
