Lava International has launched its Iris Pro 30, a premium smartphone from the Indian device vendor, for a retail price of Rs 15,999.
Iris Pro 30 will be the highest priced smartphone from Lava, which is emerging as one of the phone vendors for masses.
Lava claims around 7 percent market share in India. The company will be adding its service centers to 1100 from the present 783.
The company says the new smartphone is completely designed, developed and manufactured by Lava internally.
Iris Pro 30 is an effort to increase the value market share of Lava. Xolo, a smartphone brand from Lava, is already selling premium devices. Though Iris Pro 30 range of phones will be competing with Xolo, both phones will have enough market in India, said Lava officials.
The new Lava Iris Pro 30 has a 4.7-inch OGS (one glass solution) display with HD (720p) resolution and features the 500 LCM panel made by Japanese manufacturer Sharp. The display is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass panel and has pixel density of 312ppi.
With thickness of 7.5mm, the new smartphone by Lava is thinner than iPhone 5s; it weighs 114 gram. But the Lava smartphone does not look like a premium device.
Iris Pro 30 sports 1.2GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It features an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 3MP front camera. The company said KitKat 4 OS will be available in 3-4 months through a OTA update. It will move directly to KitKat from Android 4.2 without updating 4.3.
Lava’s new Iris Pro 30 has a 2,000mAh battery that features Content Adaptive Backlight Control (CABC) technology, allowing it to run 30 percent more than rival products.
Some of the software features of Iris Pro 30 are flip-to-mute, video PIP, voice and face recognition to unlock the model. It supports USB on-the-go, allowing it to read data from pen drives and receive inputs from keyboard and mouse.
