Viasat receives FCC approval to buy Inmarsat for $4 bn

Viasat, a global communications company, has received approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to buy Inmarsat, a provider of mobile satellite communications services.
Viasat booth at a trade eventThe FCC’s decision leaves the European Commission’s (EC) competition review as the key ongoing regulatory process in relation to the $4 billion deal.

Viasat said the transaction is expected to close later this month, subject to required regulatory approvals, clearances and other customary closing conditions.
